Katie & Brent’s Destination Wedding
THEIR LOVE STORY:
It all started in kindergarten, for these two lovebirds! However, Katie was more on the teacher’s pet side of the class, while Brent was always in time-out. Throughout school, they had classes together here and there and eventually found themselves in the same friend group. From hanging out more and more as friends, we ended up agreeing to go to the senior ball together! “I always say things just work out how they’re supposed to, and this was our ‘meant-to-be’ moment. We have been together ever since that night!”
A MEMORABLE MOMENT WHEN YOU KNEW THEY WERE THE ONE:
Since we began our relationship at the end of our senior year of high school, we knew we had only the summer before we separated to go to our chosen colleges. The heartbreak of leaving one another was like nothing I ever felt or even knew I could feel. Needless to say, Brent came home from school at approximately a month into his freshman year. What can I say? He just couldn’t stay away lol.
THE PROPOSAL:
I definitely knew it was coming! We had gone to see what I had liked in terms of a ring, and we had talked about it for quite some time by then. On my birthday in 2021, Brent gave me scratch-offs as part of a birthday gift. Little did I know that one of them was rigged to be a "winner," then the prize box said, "will you marry me?" I turned around to Brent on his knee and of course, I said yes!
THE WEDDING:
Katie & Brent went back and forth on what type of wedding they would have. They knew they wanted something special, something different, something that brought their family & friends together. After going to numerous venues in upstate NY & even Brooklyn, nothing seemed to quite fit the bill of what they envisioned for their special day. After a few months of checking out venues, they realized that a destination wedding was the best option to start their happily ever after. Katie said, “Once we realized that we could have the style of wedding that we dreamed of and enjoy our family and friends for an extended period of time, it was a no-brainer for us.”
THE DRESS:
The next item of business was starting the wedding dress process! Katie has worked in the bridal industry for the past 5 years. So, something like choosing a wedding dress almost seemed more challenging than picking the venue. She knew she wanted something couture, something timeless & elegant. So many dresses inspired her, but not one that seemed to capture her as a Bride. So when your boss is a designer & you have a team of seamstresses behind you what do you do? Katie got a completely custom gown designed by her boss, Janet!" And Constructed by Janet and Anne, from Dress You Up NY! The wedding dress process was one of a kind. From being a part of the whole design process, the numerous fittings to ensure it was everything she wanted, to picking out the finest silk in NYC. It was a whole new bridal experience, and in the end, the gown completely captured Katie as a bride. It fit her like a glove, the couture elements were unforgettable (and detachable) and it told the story Katie always envisioned she would, as a bride!

After almost a year of planning, it was wedding week. Family & friends began their journey to Mexico! It was a secluded tropical oasis, the vast property immediately captured everyone's hearts. And with a venue like this, their Mexico wedding was anything but ordinary. They chose warm color tones all throughout that matched the greenery and modern architecture. It created such a unique atmosphere that reflected the venue but also their personalities!
The ceremony took place right on the beach. With the warm sunset behind them, and the perfect florals surrounding them. For the reception, the resort created an enchanting oasis under the stars & twinkling lights. Katie & Brent ensured every detail had a purpose, meaning, and a personal connection. Their attention to detail was remarkable from the unique “take a shot & find your seat” table, to the perfectly set tablescape, and the dance floor in the middle of it all. You can see it all through the captivating images by their photographer Celia Armijo. Trust us. This was one of the most unforgettable celebrations, a true coming together of both family & friends, in paradise.
FAV MOMENTS FROM THE WHOLE WEDDING WEEK/DAY/EVENING
There are too many to choose! One moment that I keep thinking back on is during our welcome party, we stood up to say thank you for everyone joining us. Just looking out at everyone we love, knowing they flew hours just to be there for us. There is nothing like the love and happiness I had felt at that moment!
